Nina Getz, O.D.

Dr. Getz
Dr. Nina Getz has optometry in her blood, having been brought up to love the profession and genuinely appreciate what optometry can do to improve vision. Her father, Dr. Donald Getz, was a renowned Sports Vision Specialist, a champion of Behavioral Optometry, and a president of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. It was his influence that led all his children to become (or to marry) optometrists.

As a child with an eye teaming disorder known as strabismus, Nina was a guinea pig for new vision therapy techniques and remains a living testament to the success of vision therapy.

After graduating from Southern California College of Optometry, she
worked with Dr. Robert Severtson in a family-oriented practice, specializing in pediatric vision development, contact lenses, and vision therapy to remediate visual and
learning disorders.

In the early 2000s, Dr. Getz worked with LensCrafters/EYEXAM of California and held the Managing Optometrist position in the Santa Anita office. She continues to be a part-time associate with the LensCrafters in Monrovia.

From 2005 to 2018, she worked with Phillips Eye Center in Arcadia in an office specializing in glaucoma management, cataract removal, refractive surgery, general ophthalmology, optical dispensing, and optometry. She provided comprehensive eye care including eye exams, a dry eye clinic, contact lens fittings (soft, rigid, and theatrical), and pre/post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery patients.

From 2018 until May of 2024, Dr. Getz worked within UCLA Doheny Eye Center in Arcadia in a unique sublease location owned by Dr. Stephen Bornfeld. Her role encompassed diverse areas of comprehensive optometry, family and geriatric vision care, contact lens services, and co-management of ocular diseases. She coordinated patient care with Doheny Ophthalmologists specializing in cataracts, glaucoma, corneal and external disease, retinal and vitreous disease, and neuro-ophthalmology. The Santa Anita Optical Boutique lives on with Wilma and Bianca at the helm.

Dr. Getz is passionate about helping patients see their very best and is dedicated to enhancing the profession of optometry. She loves the community and has served as a board member of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce for many years in addition to her time as president of the San Gabriel Valley Optometric Society chapter of the California Optometric Association.

I am thrilled to be collaborating with Dr. Michael Hoey and Dr. Wendy Shem. It is my privilege, and pleasure to provide quality optometric care with Wyse Willa Optometry.
